This privacy policy specifies the personal data collected by Mad About Swing when you use our website, and expains how it is used.
Data collected when browsing the website
When you visit this website, a small amount of information is stored in web server access logs each time you load a page, including:
- Your IP addressⓘ
- The type of web browser you used
- The page you accessed, and the date and time of access
We collect this information for the purpose of access monitoring, to ensure the security and reliability of the website, and to detect misuse.
We do not retain raw access logs, containing IP addresses, for more than one month.
Anonymous usage statistics are calculated from these logs every 24 hours. These statistics do not contain personal data and may be retained indefinitely.
Data collected when using our class and event booking system
Data collected by Mad About Swing
To book for a class or event online, you must consent to us collecting and storing some data in addition to the data required for browsing the website. This information is entered directly by you in the booking form, and includes the following data:
- Your name, and the names of other people for whom you are booking
- Your e-mail address
- Your phone number, if you provide it
- The sessions for which you are booking, and the roles and groupings of participants in those sessions
We collect your data for the following purposes:
- Processing your booking
- Detecting and preventing fraud or misuse
- Organising the classes or events for which you have booked
- Informing you (by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or e-mail) about changes to the classes and events for which you have booked
Your consent is requested at the time of entering your data. If you do not consent, your data will not be stored, and we will be unable to process your booking.
We will keep the personal data you provide when booking an event for up to 12 months after the date of your last event booking. Once this time period has expired, your personally identifiable data will be deleted. Anonymous attendance data may be retained indefinitely.
CAPTCHA
As part of the booking process, you will be asked to complete a CAPTCHA to confirm that you are a genuine user, normally by ticking "I'm not a robot". This is provided by reCAPTCHA, a service from Google that helps protect websites from spam and abuse. As part of this process, Google will collect and process some data in accordance with Google's privacy policy.
We include the CAPTCHA for the purpose of detecting and preventing fraud or misuse.
None of the personal information you enter in the booking form is transferred to Google or any other third party.
Cookies
Cookies are text files saved on your device by your web browser to store data when you are using a website.
If you use our class and event booking system, Google may use cookies to implement the CAPTCHA in accordance with its privacy policy. This process is not managed by Mad About Swing.
Mad About Swing does not create or read any cookies when you use this website. No other third party services are used.
Marketing
The data collected by Mad About Swing when you use this website will not be used for marketing purposes or advertising. This information will not be transferred to a third party.
Data storage and transmission
Your data are transferred over an encrypted HTTPS connection and stored in a password protected database on a server operated by our web hosting provider, HostGator, in accordance with their privacy policy and terms of service. HostGator acts as a processor of data submitted to this website and is GDPR compliant.
We will not transmit your data to third parties.
The periods for which we will retain your data are specified in the relevant sections above.
Your rights
We process your data in accordance with the UK GDPR. Under the UK and EU GDPR, all users are entitled the following:
- The right to access: you have the right to request copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
